여행 중 응급상황

While attending a conference abroad last year, I actually witnessed a medical emergency in the hotel lobby — an older man suddenly passed out right in front of the front desk. A few of us rushed over, and thankfully he came around within a minute or so, looking confused but breathing normally. Someone immediately called for help, and hotel staff directed the paramedics straight to us when they arrived. I stayed with him and kept talking to him calmly, telling him to just hold on until the ambulance got there. It turned out to be a simple case of dehydration and jet lag, but it was a good reminder of how quickly things can happen, even somewhere as ordinary as a hotel lobby.

작년에 해외 학회에 참석했을 때, 실제로 호텔 로비에서 응급상황을 목격한 적이 있어요 — 한 나이 든 남성이 프런트 데스크 바로 앞에서 갑자기 쓰러졌어요. 저희 몇 명이 급히 달려갔고, 다행히 그는 1분쯤 안에 의식이 돌아왔는데, 혼란스러워 보였지만 호흡은 정상이었어요. 누군가 즉시 도움을 요청했고, 구급대원들이 도착했을 때 호텔 직원이 바로 저희 쪽으로 안내했어요. 저는 그의 곁에 있으면서 계속 차분하게 말을 걸며, 구급차가 올 때까지 그냥 버텨달라고 했어요. 알고 보니 단순한 탈수와 시차 문제였지만, 호텔 로비처럼 평범한 곳에서도 일이 얼마나 빨리 일어날 수 있는지 좋은 상기가 됐어요.
